Annual Recognition Awards

Every year since 1954, the Milwaukee County Historical Society has honored individuals, community organizations and business that have worked diligently to preserve and promote local history.

In 2003, in recognition of our 50th award program, the Society added a new award category, Anniversary Accolades, noting the 50th, 75th, 100th, 125th and 150th anniversaries of local businesses, organizations, schools and universities.

Our celebration banquet takes place each spring in late April or early May. Nominations for awards are taken throughout the year, and each year’s slate of awardees are approved by the Board of Directors at our February meeting.

If you would like to nominate an individual or organization for one of the Milwaukee County Historical Society’s annual awards, please submit a letter or e-mail describing the accomplishments or contributions, which you feel should be recognized.

The deadline for nominations each year is January 15.
