Bound name indexes. Business and organizational articles of incorporation. These include Articles, Amendments and Dissolutions. These documents cannot be photocopied, but pertinent information such as purpose of corporation, amount of capital stock, change of articles, reason for dissolving, signers of document, and the date may be transcribed. Milwaukee County Probate Records 1835-1890
Originals between 1835-1889 are not inclusive and later files are scattered. Over 2,400 individual cases with names in alphabetical order are in the index the records were turned over by Milwaukee County to the Milwaukee County Historical Society. If you are unable to find the records here, contact the Register of Probate Office at the Milwaukee County Courthouse. Generally our records are noted as wills, estate, or assignment of guardianship. These are civil cases such as divorces, and lawsuits brought by individuals against other individuals or companies. Criminal court cases from 1838-1879 with index of all participants by term, indicating defendants, charges, and disposition of cases. Request Court Records via email.

Milwaukee County Coroner's Records 1873-1935
Full alphabetical name index, which includes cause of death for years 1873-1890. The files contain death certificates and inquest testimony. Please note that the coroner was not called at every death, just for accidents or other suspicious circumstances. Request Coroner Records via email.
